Elegy for Our Time is a new piece for band written to honor
all the
victims of the September Eleven tragedy. This composition endeavors to describe the
feelings
of not only the composer himself, but those of an entire nation.
This music is oppressingly solemn and foreboding, depicting a
sentimental
yearning for a period of the past. The melancholy is achieved through
simple
melodies and complex chordal progressions. Confusion is created in the
thematic material as a metaphor to the many questions in search of
answers.
This piece is suitable for Concert or Festival.
