Choral
and Fugue By Leonard Duarte. This piece was composed in memory of my
friend, Daniel Hiestand. Written in the style and counterpoint of the
great master, Bach, the piece begins in C major with a choral theme
scored for brass alone. The orchestration expands as the entire band
enters with melodies countering melodies until the Fugue subject appears
in G minor stated in the cornets. The fugue is developed and returns in
C major to the original choral theme but with fugal treatment. The piece
ends with great flourishes from the woodwinds and trumpets.
